We had a good time camping with Cristina and David near Staunton, Virginia. The rain watered down the town festival, but still we took our stroll around town and found our way to the the bakery table at the local farmers' market where we purchased and ate some of the local goodies.
For those interested, the Wilderness store in Staunton offers a wide selection of outdoor, and what I call, the 'no so pretty' but comfortable-type, shoes such as Merrell, Clark's, and Birkenstocks as well as other type of athletic and hiking shoes. The prices are a bit high, but the selection is impressive for a store in a small town.
We camped at the local KOA which was nice. The cool temperature was a clear indication that fall is in the air and hopefully not a sign of a cold winter to come!
Because of the rain, there are not many pictures, but David managed to start and keep going a nice, fire where we later made s'mores and roasted huge, squared marshmallows, some more successful than others! There are no pictures of this event due to the darkness of the night and marshmallows! Below are pictures of our fire as it started out, and yes, we burned all the wood.
Cristina and David brought along their puppy, whom I've renamed "the indifferent one," for obvious reasons in contrast to Gaby's whom I've renamed "the untamed one."
